First week of school, First football game and only 6 more days!!

The first week of school has gone really good. Exhausting, but good. I have some really great kids in my classes. I am so happy to have a 3 day weekend though. Hopefully I won't have too much longer. My ankles and feet are so swollen and I keep my classroom at about 68 degrees because I'm so hot all the time. It is better when the door stays shut!

We won the first football game!! We were picked to lose by 25 points and ranked way below the other team (Franklin) on the polls. We won 28-21. We got a touchdown with 6 seconds to go to win! It was very exciting and it is awesome that they were able to have a W for the first game!! I am very sad that I won't be able to go to the second game because it is too far away. I have to stay within an hour of the hospital....it is going to be really hard if Eli hasn't come yet and I have to sit at home while they're playing, but maybe we'll make it to the homecoming game if he comes soon after!

I am due with Eli in exactly 6 days. I was hoping that he might decide to come this weekend, but I don't feel that labor is imminent, so I'll look forward to my Wednesday appointment and hopefully I'll have made some progress by then.

It's almost time (I hope!)

I am 38 weeks pregnant today! That means that hopefully baby Eli will be here in just 14 days!! I don't know how he is going to get any bigger. I am feeling and looking so huge these days.

I started work on Monday. We had 4 days of professional development and school starts on Monday the 25th. I am really excited about my classes. I have 2 IPC classes (Integrated Physics and Chemistry.) There are 10 kids in one and 15 kids in the other class. I am also teaching 4 sections of TAKS science and I have my smallest class (1st period) of 2 kids and my largest is 8 kids! My conference periods are together, which is nice because I can get a lot done during that time. Plus, then I have my lunch time right after my conference periods. This means that from 10:35-12:55 I will have no kids in my room. My classroom is......interesting. They put me in a section of the "old field house." It smells kind of musty and I have a partition between my room and the room next to me. To the back of me is the 7th/8th grade athletics, so it might get kind of noisy. It does have a full refrigerator and oven in it though. Also, it might be kind of nice to be away from the main building. I am a junior class sponsor (not by choice) so I guess I will have to help plan and put on the prom.

Kent's classroom is really nice. He is teaching 8th grade U.S. History and the middle school is the newest building. He is upstairs with an entire wall of windows. I helped him hang some posters on his walls and organize a bit and he helped me lift and move lots of things in my room. It's really nice to be able to spend some time together at school, especially now during football season, when he's not home much. They had their 2nd football scrimmage last night and there was a really good turnout of people there. It was fun to see Kent and Jeff on the field together. I am excited about the first game next Friday at Rogers. Hopefully I make it that long!

No news on the house....it's still on the market. We're hoping that the market will pick up again soon. The drive to Rogers is about an hour and as everyone knows, gas is not cheap.

I hope my next update will include pictures of baby Eli!!!

23 more days!!

Well, it's 23 more days until the due date, but I have a feeling this stinker might be stubborn (like his dad) and make us wait longer!

I had my 37 week doctor appointment this morning and everything is good. The doctor won't check for any progress until next week to save the frustration of NO progress. His head is down, contributing to my hourly bathroom breaks and she thinks he weighs about 7 pounds!! Already a big boy. The doctor said she definitely won't let me go past 14 days overdue and most likely if he hasn't been born yet, we would set an induction date between 7 and 14 days.

I start work next Monday and I'm excited but I also know that it is going to be hard since I've been able to nap or take breaks whenever I feel like it all summer long!

Well, that's all for now! I'll update when I have more news.

35 Weeks!

Hey everyone! I had my 35 week appointment yesterday and everything is good. I met one of the other doctors, so now I know all of them. This is good because it might not be my doctor on call when I go into labor. The heartbeat was good. The doc poked Eli to wake him up and his heartbeat went up. I start going to the doctor every week now, so that is another sign that the time is going by fast! Only 4 weeks and 6 days until the due date!

Kent had his 30th birthday last Sunday. We celebrated Saturday with family, pizza, cake and ice cream. He and his brother left for coaching school on Sunday, so I'm sure he was able to celebrate again in San Antonio.

Work starts for me again in two weeks. I am hoping to get my lesson plans done for at least the first 9 weeks so that I won't have to worry about that for a while. I am hoping to get a lot done during the week before school starts to make it easier on me for the first weeks of school.

Well, I'll check in next week to let everyone know how we're doing! Please leave us comments so we know what's going on with you. Or email me at swalker15@gmail.com
